Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on a promise to serve not only one another but the greater community as well. This commitment reflects a philosophy of friendship, care, and purpose in the world.
Serving Others
Our International Philanthropy
Serving the world around us is one of AOII’s founding principles. While local chapters are encouraged to support philanthropic opportunities in their communities, all chapters support AOII’s international philanthropy , which is funding for arthritis research and patients. Since 1967, the Fraternity has enjoyed an important partnership with the Arthritis Foundation . AOII's philanthropic mission is to raise money for as well as spread awareness and understanding of arthritis and its more than 100 related diseases.
This year, we've raised over $27,800 for the Arthritis Foundation which supports arthritis research, Juvenile Arthritis Power Packs, Juvenile Arthritis camps, conferences and so much more.
Local philanthropy efforts
Along with serving our national philanthropy, Nu Beta loves to serve our community through various events like RebelThon, Casa Encore, the Ole Miss Big Event, and various other service organizations on campus and in the Oxford-Lafayette community. These organizations allow our sisters to be hands-on and see the impact they are making on campus and in the community.
In 2023, Nu Beta raised over $27,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through RebelThon.
Supporting the AOII Foundation
The promise to serve can be seen in the relationships between sisters as we work together to contribute to the AOII Foundation which enables scholarships and aid to other sisters.
The AOII Foundation’s Mission Statement is to invest in our sisters and inspire a lifetime of giving to innovative leadership, educational and philanthropic causes. We are proud to support the AOII Foundation which is able to offer our members academic and leadership scholarship opportunities, as well as grants and emergency assistance to sisters in dire need.
Spike Out Arthritis
Spike Out was our 2023 spring philanthropy event benefiting the Arthritis Foundation. Teams made of other greek houses on campus came together to play in a sand volleyball tournament and raise money to help further arthritis research and support arthritis patients!
The event was held in memorial for our late sister Carli Sears and we are so glad we are still able to honor her legacy and impact she has left on our chapter every year.
